The Bay Horse is situated in the Lake District's only coastal village, Ravenglass. It is an 18th century Coaching Inn and has been lovingly restored to enhance it's charm and character.
In it's courtyard is the old Blacksmiths, Wheelwrights and stables. The stables have now been converted into living accommodation but part of it is now the Games Room, containing a half sized snooker table, darts board and board games for the guests to enjoy.
For many years Ravenglass was the haunt of smugglers and there are rumours that say there is an underground tunnel connecting the Bay Horse with the Ship Inn (another old Inn across the road). This would have been used by smugglers to move their contraband from Inn to Inn so hiding from the customs men. More information can be on Wikipedia
